- Mission Statement -

The Pioneer District of the Barbershop Harmony Society uses its Hall of Fame to recognize those who go above and beyond to promote barbershop over a sustained period of time. Hall of Fame members inspire us to engage as active members of the barbershop community and go beyond our comfort zones to push our own abilities and contributions to the world of barbershop.

Definition

  1. A select group of barbershoppers recognized by their peers to have contributed outstanding service and leadership to the Pioneer District.

The Hall Of Fame Selection Committee

  1. The District President shall appoint the Hall of Fame Committee. The committee is made up of 4 district board members and the 3 most recent Hall of Fame inductees, totaling 7.

Method of Nomination to the Hall of Fame

  1. Anyone can submit a nomination.
  2. Fill out and submit the nomination form between January 1st and May 31st.

Criteria for Hall of Fame Eligibility

Prerequisites:

  1. All people are eligible for consideration to the Hall of Fame.
  2. Candidates should have a minimum membership in the Pioneer District of ten (10) years, but extenuating circumstances will be considered by the committee.

General criteria:

  1. Inductees go above and beyond in one or more of the following categories:
    1. Administrative activities at the chapter, district, or society
      level
    2. Musical activities in quartets, choruses, coaching, judging,
      or arranging
    3. Service activities at the chapter, district, or society level
  2. Quartets can be admitted to the Hall of Fame as well as individual members of the quartets that go above and beyond as individuals.

Hall of Fame Selection Process

  1. The committee should select up to 2 new Hall of Fame members annually.
  2. The selection process will take place during the months of June or July
  3. Each member of the committee is eligible to vote on each candidate.
  4. A minimum of five (5 of 7) votes is required to elect a candidate to the Hall of Fame.
  5. If more than 2 candidates reach 5 of 7 votes, the committee will vote it down to 2 inductees.
  6. The selected candidates to the Hall of Fame will be notified in August.
  7. If a nominee is not selected, that nomination is still open for 2 more years equalling a total of 3 years. After the 3 years, the nomination will be closed.
  8. If a nomination is closed, that person must be nominated again to receive future consideration.

Presentation of the Hall of Fame Award

  1. The Hall of Fame award will be a distinctive medal and a plaque listing the recipient’s name and the year in which they received the award.
  2. There will be a presentation dinner on Friday as a kickoff to the Fall Convention.
  3. There will also be a brief presentation during the Saturday night Quartet Finals Competition at the Fall Convention.
