The Spring 2022 Pioneer District Convention will be held in Grand Rapids on April 29th & 30th.

The contest venue will be at the DeVos Center for Arts and Worship at Grand Rapids Christian High School, and the headquarter hotel will be the Doubletree Hotel on 28th Street.

The Great Reunion SingFest (Friday night)

All are invited, and any choruses, ensembles, and non-competing quartets are encouraged to participate using the sign-up form here.

Details:
Begins at 7pm on Friday
Located in the DoubleTree Ballroom
Sign up by April 21st to be scheduled for a time slot between 7pm-10pm
After scheduled groups sing, anyone is welcome to perform (we've got the ballroom until 2am!)
Groups can sing 1-2 songs and/or tags

Contest Entry

The deadline to enter is two weeks prior to contest: April 15th. Read how to enter here.

Quartet semi-finals and finals will both occur on Saturday the 30th at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

Convention Details

Pioneer will not be having an official chorus contest this Spring. The final schedule will be sent soon, but for now, you can expect:

  • A showcase Friday night open to any quartet, chorus, or ensemble (details TBA)
  • Educational classes Friday afternoon & Saturday morning taught by judges and local PIO legends
  • Quartet prelims and finals Saturday afternoon/night (International, Youth, Senior)
  • Hospitality suites
  • New PIO merchandise
  • Fellowship, singing, and more!

The mic testing chorus will be led by City Lights directors, Brandon Smith and Aaron Pollard. Songs include Wait Till the Sun Shines, Nellie, and The Old Songs/Down Our way. Anyone is welcome to join the brief rehearsal Saturday (time TBD).


Covid-19 Policy

PIO is adhering to the BHS, CDC, and local guidelines. All attendees must show proof of vaccine or proof of a negative Covid test done within 72 hours prior to the convention. Wearing a mask is optional.
